Just 20 years of age, Kia can still compete as a Junior but has started competing in Senior International events. In 2007, Kia competed in the Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and came home with two medals – gold in the K-2 500m and bronze in the K-4 500m events. She won a total of six bronze medals in various events at the 2007 Canadian Championships, establishing herself as a serious contender in women’s kayak.
